OPCAAW Board member Brad Powers will teach a basic pen turning class on Sunday, Feb. 27 at our normal meeting place, the Seventh Day Adventist Church School in Bremerton.
No prior experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided, including two pen kits and a bonus letter opener kit. Participants will take home two finished pens and a finished letter opener if time allows. The material fee also includes the wood needed to do the projects.
Each step of the process will be demonstrated with opportunities for hands-on learning at every step.
Class fee is $25 for OPCAAW members and $55 for non-members. The non-member fee includes a 1 year membership in the club and ensures that all attendees are covered by the club's insurance. Each attendee also will be charged a $25 materials fee to cover the cost of the pen and letter opener kits and wood blanks. Total cost for members is $50; non-members $80.
The class will begin at 10 a.m. There will be an hour lunch break from noon until 1. The second half of the class runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The class is limited to six students.
