Regular Meeting - Brad Stave: Color and Enhancements in Turning

January 25, 2023

The January meeting of OPCAAW will feature a demonstration by Brad Stave on Color and Enhancements in wood turning.

This months demonstration will be about ways to embellish your turnings using various tools and techniques.

Brad is now serving as OPCAAW's past president following three years of service as president of the club. He shows his work in the Verkstad Gallery in Poulsbo and is one of our club's most accomplished practitioners of embellishment. Brad used to do a combination of flat work and turnings for his gallery displays, but has more recently focused much more on his turnings, which are often embellished with paint, carvings, dyes and bead illusions.

Brad started his career as a woodshop teacher, including a year at Bremerton High School. He moved to California and joined an aerospace company. Brad has been active in the AAW since 1989 and started a local chapter in California. Brad moved to Gig Harbor in 2004, retired in 2013 and joined OPCAAW in 2014. He served as VP of Training in 2015-2016 and as president 2020-2022.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with the business meeting starting at 6:30.

There will be announcements, Show & Tell and the wood auction before the demonstration begins.

Members will have the ability to attend virtually via Zoom. A link to the Zoom session will be sent out a few days before the meeting.
