OPCAAW has been invited by the Kitsap Woodcarvers to participate in their annual show on June 11 and 12. Our Board would like your thoughts on whether we should.
Because of COVID, the Kitsap Woodcarvers have been inactive for two years, and as a result, they have lost members and their community profile. In past years, their annual event has drawn about 300 people to the Sheridan Park Community Center in Bremerton.
In an effort to rekindle their activity, they are planning the show once again for this year, and are seeking to change what had in the past been an event focused on carving to one that will feature a variety of wood artisans. To reflect that, they are changing the name of the show to the “Kitsap Artistry in Wood Show.”
For $200, OPCAAW can have a side room at the event where we can demonstrate woodturning and where our members will be allowed to sell their work. Our members would also be eligible to enter work in the juried wood art show.
But to participate, we will need commitments from several members willing to sign up for demonstration shifts (we’ll probably make tops for the fair) during the 12 hours of the show on that Saturday and Sunday. Let us know if you are willing to take this one on.
