Turning Handles Class
Brad will instruct students on how to turn handles for various kits available from common wood
turning suppliers. The specific focus of this class will be Rockler Brand Pizza Cutter kits.
Additional kits for ice cream scoops/paddles and bottle openers will be available at an additional
cost. Students should leave the class with a completed pizza cutter and will have the
opportunity to make additional items if desired. The techniques and tips covered during the
class can be used to make a large number of other items from kits, including wedding sets,
magnifying glasses, pie servers and even corn cob holders. Skills covered will include basic
spindle turning, choosing a form, sanding and finishing.
All materials will be provided including wood for the handles, a drill chuck mandrel to mount the
blanks, and Rockler Pizza Cutter hardware. PLEASE NOTE the material fees alone for this
class will be $35. That covers the Rockler hardware at cost (on sale) plus the wood with a
threaded insert installed. Club members pay a $60 registration fee, for a total of $95.
Non-members pay a total of $125. The extra $30 for non members applies to a calendar
year membership in OPCAAW (see below for link to become a member in advance).
Your membership assures that the clubs insurance policy covers you during the class.
NOTE: Additional (optional) kits will be available for purchase at the class. Ice cream
scoops/paddles and bottle openers will cost $25. Pizza cutters will cost $30. This will
include wood with a threaded insert installed. Please bring cash.
We can always use assistants to help with setup, cleanup and students.
Nonmembers may go to New Member Signup join, pay dues and then register for class as member. This will enter you in
database and if you take a class again it will let you register as a member.
