Regular Meeting - Jay Shepard: Finishing, Buffing and More

March 27, 2019

Whether it’s a simple wood bowl or a lacquered urn, finishing is a process that starts with good surface preparation and ends with patience and attention to final surface quality and a good buff. Jay Shepard is a member of the Woodturners of Olympia and shows his work in fine art galleries and shows across the country.

His demonstration will include preparing a piece for finishing, buff finish on plain wood, using hard wax/oil finishes and buffing, water-based lacquer finishes, repairing dents, dings, and voids, HVLP spray gun set-up and use, and creating lacquer finishes. Jay last demonstrated for our club in 2016.

In addition, the meeting will feature announcements, Show and Tell and the wood auction. Members will also have access to our library and to sandpaper and CA glue sales.

Gathering starts at 6 p.m. Announcements begin at 6:30.
