Regular Meeting Via Zoom - Cindy Drozda: Signature Inlay Box with Finial

    April 29, 2020

This month's regular meeting of OPCAAW will be an online zoom meeting featuring a demonstration by famed turner Cindy Drozda. Cindy will be demonstrating how to turn her signature piece, a box with inlay, an in-fitting lid and a finial made from one piece of wood.

Cindy, a Boulder, CO, resident, is a full-time woodturning artist who is known for her precise techniques, fine details, and analysis of form and the elements of successful design. Her elegant lidded vessels with delicate finials bring a contemporary flair to classic forms. Cindy shares her woodturning knowledge and passion as an international demonstrator and teacher. She has been turning since 1985.

Before choosing woodturning as a career Cindy worked as a cabinet maker, rebuilt airplanes, and made hang gliding equipment. In 1988, she participated in a 6 month crossing of the US by non-powered hang glider.

Cindy's Zoom presentation has a limit of 100 participants, so OPCAAW members will be given first preference for online attendance.

    The schedule is as follows:
6 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.: Join Zoom meeting. Non members will be allowed in at 6:15 if the meeting's participant limit has not yet been reached.
6:15 p.m. to 6:25 p.m.: Announcements from OPCAAW President Brad Stave
6:25 p.m.: Show & Tell Slide Show. Email photos of work you'd like to show by noon on April 27.
6:45 p.m. (approximately): Demo starts.  The demonstration will last about two hours, with a 15-minute break half way through. Please be sure to mute your microphones after signing in to the meeting, and ask to be recognized if you wish to ask Cindy a question.

This is our first club meeting via Zoom, so please be gracious as we work through using this technology together.
