    July 27, 2022

The July  meeting of OPCAAW will feature a demonstration by our president, Brad Stave, on the basket illusion embellishment technique.

Brad, who has demonstrated regionally, has been working to perfect the basket illusion over the past few years. His bowls featuring the basket illusion are on sale at galleries in Gig Harbor and Poulsbo.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with the business meeting starting at 6:30.

There will be announcements, Show & Tell and the wood auction before the demonstration begins.

This will be a live demonstration that will also be available online via Zoom.

  • July 31, 2022 - Class -- Making Small Peppermills

    Class -- Making Small Peppermills

    July 31, 2022

OPCAAW is tentatively offering a class on how to make small peppermills. Capacity is six students.

The class will be taught by Scott Overby, who turns professionally and has many years experience making pepper mills. Scott will take students through the process of creating a small peppermill on the lathe. All the tools  you need will be provided and the materials fee will cover the cost of the peppermill blank.

    Some turning experience  is suggested.

The class fee is $30 for OPCAAW members and $60 for non-members, which includes a one-year membership in OPCAAW.

The class will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  with a break for lunch from noon to 1.

As with all our classes, this should be considered a tentative class listing. Final determination that this class will be offered will be made before the regular membership meeting in April and announced at that meeting. An email opening registration will be sent out to everyone on our email list, members and non-members, a couple of days later. Spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis as registrants respond to that email announcement. Registration will be considered complete only once payment is received.
