We are seeking volunteers to help demonstrate woodturning durning the woodworking show sponsored by the Kitsap County Woodcarvers in Bremerton on June 11 and 12.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 12. So there is a total of 12 hours to staff, and we are seeking to have at least two people in our area for each of those 12 hours. If you are interested in helping to demonstrate our craft to members of the public, please contact Brad Stave and say when you are willing to volunteer. The show is at the Sheridan Park Community Center on Lebo Boulevard in Bremerton.
The Woodcarvers have held this show for many years. But it was canceled the past two years because of the pandemic. This year, they are trying to expand the show beyond carving to demonstrate and promote all kinds of wood working. They will be including a juried show of wood artisans from around the Puget Sound.
This is a good opportunity to share our story and our craft with the public. The City of Bremerton Parks and Recreation Department will be assisting the Woodcarvers with publicity. In past years, the event has attracted between 300 and 400 people.
The OPCAAW Board voted April 13 to participate in this event through the rental of a demonstration space. The cost to the club is $200.
OPCAAW is also looking for members that want to sell their work at the Bremerton Carvers show. You will be responsible for a table and your own method of collecting money. The club will take no financial responsibility for collecting money on items sold. Contact Brad Stave at gigstave@gmail.com .. thanks
